This is the premiere Vigoda video. How could the awarding of the employee-of-the-month award be given? How could we make this zoom special? The answer, committee chairman Lou Rabito and I originated the video format to announce the honor that incorporates their outstanding journalism pursuits and personal quirks, for an enjoyable presentation no matter where we sign in from.
The Ralph Vigoda Award for Outstanding Journalism bears the name of a revered colleague who died suddenly.

Creating a special digital and print product celebrating every equinox was not supported by my editors. However I did find an ally with Reporter Anthony Wood and we collaborated on basically only one. This video was never published, but he gave me subjects he would write about. Autumn heralds leaves turning, migrations, hibernations, and more.
Blast Protection
Engineers at Villanova University have designed and tested a system to strengthen the armor protecting military vehicles. Reporter Tom Avril narrates original and handout video to give a brief overview of the project. I got an assist from Photo Editor Hai Do.
Sam Maitin Citizen Artist
My first video. I had done intros but never tackled telling a story with them to go with my print graphic on the same man. The First Citizen Artist in Philadelphia: Highlights from a symposium and exhibit of selected works of Sam Maitin at the Woodmere Museum. Sam Maitin is a man connected to the Philadelphia landscape with installations all over the city. People who knew him well, talk to us on camera. I curated photos from The Inquirer newspaper's archive to accent the stories and produced a companion print piece. This enterprise video was produced with collaborators Culture Writer Peter Dobrin and Akira Suwa Staff Photographer.
Eagles Fight Song
Conceived as a fight song, evolved into an anthem, now gone to the dogs. Reporter Tommy Rowan, editor Dan Rubin, and I created this for philly.com so you too can proudly join Philadelphia home dogs, now underdogs, bark along with these lyrics during Super Bowl VII. “Fly, Eagles, fly …”
