PHOTO EDITS

Many photographer colleagues are friends, famous and talented journalists. So from my work, I selected times when I feel I honored their vision. Other examples can be seen integrated in my artwork on other pages of this website.

I shot these negatives heading towards Manhattan, while riding shotgun in Queens. The magical chaos of the city during the past century, shapes in silhouete.

LONGFORMS

The Harris endorsement above broke newsroom records for subscription success by thousands all in a short amount of time. Working with the Editorial Board during the election was a very professional, focused, intelligent, and enjoyable period of time.

A freelancer shot the amusement park at the last minute and made one 360 video that I pulled several rolling vids from. Messaging the reporter I found more great video clips and images from the day. A photo editor was my support if I needed it.

Had to dig up the images to go with this personal story of an American music icon. It was written many years ago and became relevant with the release of a bio-picture of Bob Dylan. Negatives were lost. Pulled the photos from microfilm and reworked them. Added other photo moments from government, local, and wire archives. Learned so much along the way about the man, the musician, Pete Seeger.

Columnist Trudy Rubin filed from Ukraine. Her editor Luis Carrasco forwarded her images and helped by pulling a selection of some wire images for what was supposed to be a takeover section.

Instead the Board and I sheparded through twin stories for that Sunday Opinion section and post. Since the images came from all different sources I decided to desaturate the photos to have a cohesive presence.

TAKEOVER SECTIONS

PLANNED SHOOT

During a brainstorm meeting I proposed stitching multiple stills together into one image. So the photographer strapped himself into the back seat of the helicopter, door open. I directed the shoot from three different altitudes sitting next to the pilot, passing north to south along the riverfront bordered by an important East Coast interstate. So many plans have been approved and abandoned. This project, a story and this graphic, laid out the challenges and property towards the perfect development. Today the area is under construction and some very wonderful places have been completed.
